Rising Flood Waters in Austin, TX

Heavy rains, flooding and large hail has caused millions in damages to Texas residents and businesses.

Lots of times the rising flood waters are not covered claims due to home owners and business locations not requiring them to carry flood insurance.  If you are in an area in risk of rising water check with your agent about your coverage's.

If you do have flood coverage be clear about what is exactly is covered and the limits.  Flood insurance coverage is not as broad as your sudden and accidental water damage coverage that most policies have.

When the flood waters recede start getting estimates and start your process of salvaging things you want to keep.   If you had several inches or feet of water in your house the IICRC states all affected porous materials must be removed.  The short definition of what that means is we find a dry line above the water line and we remove everything from that point down.  This is also known as  flood cut.

Time is important but don't feel like you have to have your house flood cut and cleaned up in the first 24-48 hrs.  Keep in mind the mitigation companies are very busy and their list is long.

Before you hire someone ask to speak with a customer they just finished.  It might even be a neighbor and you can go see the final results.  Don't feel pressured into signing up if you are not comfortable.

SERVPRO of Hyde Park / Central Austin has been handling rising flood water losses in Austin since 1998.  We are very knowledgeable and understand the trauma a loss like this can cause a family.  We are here to help.
