Storm Warning - What to do

3/3/2017 (Permalink)

Typical aftermath

Surprise storms, especially tornadoes, can lead to catastrophic damage and worse. It's important to be informed and know the meaning behind a Watch and a Warning. A Tornado Watch is issued when severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. It does not mean that they will occur. It only means they are possible. A Tornado Warning is issued when a tornado is imminent. When a tornado warning is issued, seek safe shelter immediately. Remember to stay away from windows and doors. Even if the storm directly misses your home or place of business, does not mean you are safe from debris from nearby areas. First priority should be to make sure you're safe. Once the storm has passed, assess damage to the areas of your home. If there is damage, typical mitigation includes boarding up windows, tarping off roofs and more. SERVPRO Hyde Park/Central Austin can help you mitigate your damages, help clean up and prevent further damage.
